Cookies, xmas card and favorite decade

Sketchy Thursday
This is my last creation as Guest Designer this month. I had a blast working with this blog. They are having a second chance challenge and you can win some great markers... go check it out... the sketch is great and can help you get some holiday cards made as well! I used Jillibean paper and Stampin up stamps.Favorite Decade: I have been so excited to work on this challenge, since I love the 50's!
In fact, I love it so much for the past 6 years, we have been celebrating 50's day at school on the 50th day of school. On the 50th day, we dress up like we are from the 50's in poodle skirts, rolled jeans and tshirts... slicked back hair or ponytails... we drink rootbeer floats for snack, stretch out sounds in our words using bubble gum and finish our day with a sock hop!!! Last year, I got my first poodle skirt... now if only I can find saddle shoes!
I love the fashions of the 50's, the easy going era, so many great toys came out in the 50's...

Thanks for stopping by...
Next, today we baked Christmas cookies... the kids had a blast. I found out Bryce doesn't like cookies... after all that hard work, he doesn't want any of them.

Bryce's tray... he had me trace his hand.
Clara's tray... she made "chocolate covered strawberries"
I am grateful for...
time with Gavin and Makenna
playing Life and Hide and seek
making embellishments for christmas cards and g.c. holders
time to relax and create tomorrow with the kids

Happy Thanksgiving

I'd like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. We spent Thanksgiving with my family. It was so nice to spend time with them. We went up last night and had a very nice dinner. My sister took the kids for the night so my mom and stepfather, Brian and I went out for a cocktail. We came home and watched some tv. My mom made these delicious pies... pumpkin and pecan... yummo!
I love my mom's story of when she was learning how to make pies from her grandmother and made one at home and got so upset with the dough she threw it against the wall. She called her grandmother and she was laughing so hard she couldn't stop! I love it! I learned how to make pie crusts from my grandma as well! Family tradition you can say... we make the best pumpkin pie, just ask Brian!
The turkey (or chicken) was spectacular... Clara ate Turkey, but Bryce ate "chicken" he doesn't like turkey, just ask him.
My favorite food is stuffing and my mom makes the best!!! Today's was yummy as normal!
Here are Brian and Clara watching The Grinch after dinner.
I started a tradition years ago, I can't even remember when... but I always got my pictures taken with my grandparents before I would leave a family event... well, it still continues so here is today's photo shoot... they are priceless to me!

I am so thankful for each of these people... I love them so much and I am so grateful that I got to spend time with them this weekend!
Tonight I am thankful for...
a wonderful few days with my family
going shopping tonight with Becky (yes, I am one of those crazy people who go out at midnight shopping) I will be armed this year with my camera... can't wait to get some pics to document this tradition
baking christmas cookies with Brian's family on Saturday
having Makenna and Gavin sleep over tomorrow
progress on the house
feeling so energized and ready for the next few hours...
God bless!

DT layouts and challenges

Practical Scrappers challenge this week is to use handstitching. I used it for the title, the loops at the top of the photos on the border and as a border across the bottom of the photos. I hope you come play along this week!Challenge Masters Altered Challenge is to create a wreath.
Scrapping the Music's challenge #113 is "Love Me" which is a very touching song that I just love and could cry everytime I hear it. The lyrics " a note my grandma wrote" were so fitting for me. My grandmother I think is the last person in this world who still sends letters! With all the technology in this world, how many people still send handwritten letters... my grandma! In college, my grandmother would write me a letter every week letting me know what her and my grandfather were up to... if she was coming for lunch, etc. Enclosed she would send $5... I saved all those letters, unfortunately they are all in storage while the house is being built... so I enclosed a recent note she sent me.
Progress on the property.... windows are not going perfectly... the ones we ordered last week arrived the wrong size and one was broken. Tonight Brian was putting in the two larger ones which we had and one went in, the other broke... goosfraba! Below is a picture of the driveway being filled back in... all the wires are run and we are ready for our electricity to be hooked up!
I am playing along with two of the design dollies challenges... 1st is their color challenge baby pink and white. I created this birthday card.
Second, I am doing their "use 3 types of water" on your layout challenge with my layout below. I used acryllic accents, bubble wrap stamping, glitter glue, stamping around for the frame which looks like waves... I also created this layout for the Challenge Masters technique challenge.

Thanks for checking out my DT projects and challenges!
I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Tonight, I am grateful for...
a much better day today!
hide and seek
macaroni and cheese, yummo!

Thanksgiving Feast and more

Thanksgiving Feast Today, Bryce and Clara had their Thanksgiving feast at preschool. Grammy and I attended and heard them sing their Chicken Soup with Rice song, Albuquerque Turkey, This old Road (which is hysterical!), and a few more. We got to dance to the Hokey Pokey and The Nobel Duke of York. The feast included Bran muffins that the kids help make and fruit salad.
Here is the famous Albuqueque Turkey (which I was hoping to bring home... but not ours this year)! I have my fingers crossed for next year. Can't you see him hanging above the fireplace in the cabin for the fall? The kids with their teacher.

Next, here is a layout that I created for the Design Dollies Challenges this week.
