Practical Scrappers, House, and Challenge Masters

Some stuff to share tonight...1st is my DT creation for Practical Scrappers... challenge- acryllic paint (most of us own some- numerous colors most likely.) Pop over to the blog and see many ways to use it. I used my Heidi Swapp masks and painted around them using the different fall colors. Other ways I like to use acryllic paint- paint alphabet letters to fit your layout. If you look at the Favorite Season layout at the top of my blog, you will see teal letters- I painted my jillibean letters to match the colors of the layout! I also love painting bubble wrap and putting texture on my background of my pages. Paint adds a great dimension to the edges of your photos. Finally, I love just painting across the background of my layout to add an extra dimension. Good luck with this week's challenge.

The guys had the roof completed and the "tivex" (spelling?) on the front of the house by the time I was done at school today. Brian, Joe and Todd are working there tonight to put in windows... yeah!!!

We only need the ridge cap on (goes along the peak of the roof)
Service Electric came out and ran our cable wire this weekend.
Here is a layout that I created for the "Go Green" challenge over at Challenge Masters. For this challenge you needed to use "items that are not normally used for scrapbooking."
I used notepaper and paperclips.
You have until the 30th to create up to 15 challenges. Pop over and check it out!
Update on Grandma-
See went home today
She must have been skipping medicine which has caused this.
She lives alone and I pray she will be okay.
I am thankful that she is well enough to come home.
She will have a nurse come visit her (at least tomorrow)
I hope it is frequently.
Tonight I am thankful for...
Grandma
Movie night
children's manners
Yvonne- picking up my necklace tonight- fixing it
Grandma remembering to take her medicine properly (please)

LO's, the crop and update on grandma

I created 2 layouts for this challenge. Brian took this picture at the wedding of Tanya and Jimmy and it may be used for a cd cover for the song that his uncle (pictured) wrote for her Father/daughter dance. It was an amazing song. I can't wait for you all to hear the song."Sweet Embrace"- my second layout that I created for this song of the kids at the wedding while group pictures were being taken. This just shows their relationship. They are so much like twins in the way they behave... they love each other so much.

I created this layout for Sketchy Thursday as a second layout for their challenge this week as well. I hope you jump over and play along with both Scrapping the Music and Sketchy Thursday!

Scrap That Poetry- When you thought I wasn't looking
Challenge #4 (wow, I can't believe we are on our 4th challenge already)
I fell in love with this poem since it would be a great way to say thank you to someone, show them how grateful you are for what they have done. Make sure to jump over and play along. The winner receives a RAK from Jessi and is a bonus GDTM for challenge #6!

I created this for my mom... as a thank you for everything she has done. What a wonderful role model she was for me. Thank you Mom for all those things you do even when you didn't know that I was watching. To read the poem click here.

I used the picture of my mom and I from my wedding, since it has such a sweet embrace between the two of us. Go say thank you to someone you love!
Crop for a Cure- On Saturday, I cropped from 9 am to 9 pm to raise money for Breast Health Services through Kinnon Keepsakes (my favorite scrapbook store that I miss so much!)
I took my camera but was so busy scrapbooking that I didn't remember to take pictures until the end of the crop. Here is Terry flying through layouts!

Buffy creating her "secret" elf card that she was teaching today.. it was so adorable. I hope she posts the amazing card on her blog.. hint, hint!

I caught Jenn as she was leaving.

This is my space... messy= productive
I kept most of my things on the floor next to me.
The crew:
Mom C., Jenny, Terry, Me, Buffy and Jenn
I had a blast ladies... we definitely need to do this more!
I totally forgot to take a picture of me and my friend Amy who ran the event.
I can't wait to hear how much we raised!
Here are some of my creations from the crop. I scraplifted a few of the layouts for this crop. My mojo wasn't flowing with my grandma's health on my mind this weekend. I am going to come back and try to give credit to the people I scraplifted at a later time.

I scraplifted, Pat Bishop , from Challenge Masters- see her layout here.

Thank you Buffy for teaching me how to create this adorable gift card holder... I made one tonight to put earrings in for my coworker for her birthday tomorrow. Sorry for the dark photo, I couldn't take the pic outside since it was already dark.
Update on my grandma...
Thank you to everyone who has sent me their well wishes and prayers... they are working.. please keep it up!
I went to see her 1st thing this morning and she was "my grandma". She is exactly who she is to me... she didn't seem like she was in the hospital. Her spirits were high. When I arrived they were about to take many vials of blood, EKG, they forgot to do one vial, so they had to come back and take another one and she was so happy and positive. (She hasn't been this way to my family over the past week- it has been very negative.) I needed to see her they way I know her, it helps me! I got to meet the doctor today with my Aunt and Uncles. He seems to be wonderful. He is running many tests to try to figure out why my grandmother is getting so many clots. She has one in her lung that may take up to 6 months to dissipate. She had surgery last night to put a stent in her heart to help with clotting and protect her heart.
After listening to the doctor, I felt like I was on "House;" that in the next room, they have a whiteboard with her symptoms, and are trying to get to the bottom of why? She is not that old, she doesn't have any of the causes of blood clots and she has been on blood thinners. So why? I believe and have faith in the doctors that they will figure out why!
I am grateful that they are figuring out why and not just sending her home. (like her last doctor has done)
Seeing my grandma today
Listening to a story that I didn't know the entire story about my kids.
I scrapped the picture from the story that she told me today; but I am not posting it tonight because I am going to add her story to the layout. I will share it when I share the LO.
Playing "Life" with the kids tonight.
All of you who are praying and leaving me comments to wish me well. I really appreciate it!

Quick post

Today was a bittersweet day... I got to scrapbook all day, but was on my phone text messaging my family throughout the day since my grandmother is not doing well. Long story very short, she is in the hospital with a stent to her heart, blood clots, an ekg said she either had a heartattack or is about too. I drove home so I could go visit her tomorrow morning, I am currently sitting in my mom's house waiting for her to arrive home from the hospital to get all the details. She has been having numerous problems all week.
Today, I scrapped a lot of photos of her which helped me get through the day. I had a bad feeling going into today... My favorite layout that I created is of my grandmother and her sisters at our family reunion in Sept.
Once I get home, spend time with my kids, I will post pics of the layouts I got done today. I took 44 layouts and got 10 for my daughter, 5 for my son and 2 layouts for me. I have planned out my next Scrapping the Music layout which features my grandmother.
I did get to see numerous scrapping friends that I seem to only see once a year at this crop today. I had a blast scrapping with Buffy, Jenny, Terry, Jenn and my mother in law. I won a t-shirt! It feels so good when you do what you love to raise money for a good cause!

Please keep my grandmother in your prayers!
Tonight I am grateful for...
time with my grandma tomorrow
doctors
my mom's strength to care for my grandmother
seeing my family which I haven't seen in a little over a month and 1/2
Brian for suggesting I come up tonight
Tanya for watching the kids again tomorrow
everything being okay
Don't forget to check out Scrap that Poetry... winner announce at midnight! New challenge announced there after!

More roof pics

Roof and wiringThe guys were back today to work on this side of the roof. They helped put the plywood on the porch as well as shingle it.
I took these picture a little after lunch time today.
They were able to cover the entire roof, so it is weather proof. They will finish the roof on Monday.
Brian and his dad finished the tube that the electrical wiring will be run in. Tomorrow Service Electric is coming out to run their wiring. They had to fill the ditch in 1/2 way.
Tonight I am grateful for...
roof
preparing for the crop (44 layouts- I wonder how many I can do in 12 hours?)
productive crop tomorrow with friends
great day today at school
restful sleep
Scrap That Poetry - 4th challenge coming on Sunday
breakfast tomorrow with scrappy friends
Tanya and Jimmy for watching the kids tomorrow
You!

DT creations, december daily and a roof! (long post)

December daily album from 2008
Last year, I created my 1st December daily album. I fell in love with the idea and ran with it. Ali Edwards is so amazing, I love her work. I taught a class on this a few weeks ago! They wanted me to post pics from last year for more ideas for them... so enjoy!
I like adding a calendar to the front of my album. It helps me stay organized throughout the month so I remember what we did on what day. I try to print photos at least once a week and add them to my album. I always begin my album with the annual cookie baking day!
I love how ecclectic the pages are. I have random shapes and sizes to fit my daily needs!
If there was a day that we didn't do something special, I took a picture of a decoration or added a Christmas card that I received on that page.
Not all your events in the album need to be related to Christmas or the holidays... I have a page for my father in laws birthday since that falls in December.
Above, you can see the truck that Bryce was driving around the day that he was sick and didn't move very much!
Last year I ended the album on Christmas morning. I had the album with pictures printed and inside of it ready for Christmas morning to share with the family. What a great way to celebrate without too much stress! This year, I might continue the album until New Year's and it is beginning in November.. so I am calling it my Holiday album instead of my December Daily! I will post pics of my album this year once I finish the pages.

Here is my layout that I created for my GDT role at Sketchy Thursday! It is a great sketch. I created another layout using the sketch that I will share at a later point. The giveaway is amazing, you just need to check it out and play along!
Practical Scrapper's challenge this week is to use color and white core cardstock. Here is a layout that I created from our Ocean City, MD trip that we took in August 2008.
I also am using this layout for Frosted Designs challenge for tearing paper!
I would like to thank Sharon for giving me this blog award. I feel honored to receive it, especially for a second time. I love this blog and I love that you are loving it too!
Rules are that I need to post answers to the questions; however, I just posted them and not sure if you would like to read them again... so check out my answers here.
I am passing this award onto Buffy, Patty, Windy, Sarabeth and Jane.

Progress at the property... it was so nice seeing 1/2 of our roof done today! Three guys shingled 1/2 of our roof today. We wanted to go with a metal roof, but like I have said before sometimes you just need to make compromises and this is one of ours.

They were really funny. I don't know these guys and here I am trampling through the mud in my school clothes with a camera around my neck. I introduced myself and said hello. Of course the next words out of my mouth were "do you mind if I take a picture?" They replied with "Do you want us to pose?" I almost died laughing... I said, well you do what you want but it will end up in my scrapbook.. they then said, alright we will keep working! The other guys that work for us almost weekly have done some pretty fun poses that will show up in scrapbook pages in the future!
Do you see the guy laying in that tiny space? I commented on how I can't imagine doing what they are doing. I remember watching Brian roof our house that we rented about a year and 1/2 ago... it scared me watching them walk around on it. I am glad I wasn't there watching them put it on. The front of the roof and the other side are a much steeper pitch. The entire roof and siding will be done by these guys over the next week! Yeah for progress!
Behind the house.
View from the right side of the house... I don't get over there much due to mud right now. The dormer is our master suit. The window on the left is the bathroom window, then the his and her walk in closets are to the right.
My Scrap That Poetry challenge #3 is coming to a close, don't forget to stop by and enter a layout for "Where the Sidewalk ends". Also don't forget I am giving away a RAK to the winner which is new this month. You will be receiving one of my Campbell's Creations paper packs- it is a collection of Bobunny winter paper and embellishments.
I am currently getting ready for my favorite crop of the year, Kinnon Keepsakes Crop for a Cure! We crop for 12 hours to raise money for breast cancer services in the Lehigh Valley. This will be my 4th year attending with my mother in law! I love the people and the cause! This year lots of friends are joining me at the crop. I am sponsoring a prize for the chinease auction. There are card raffles and a quilt giveaway as well. Patty will be selling items from her etsy shop there this year as well. I can't wait to see my friends from Kinnon. I will have lots of layouts to post on Sunday as well as the winner of the Scrap that Poetry!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I will post again on Sunday!
Tonight I am grateful for...

Happy Veteran's Day

Happy Veteran's Day!I would like to take a moment and thank all the men and woman who protect us everyday!
Here is my card that I created for Practical Scrapper's this week. Our challenge is to use color core and white core cardstock. On this card I used both. The brown cardstock in the center of the card has a light brown core. I sanded the edges to expose the lighter color. I tore the cardstock at the bottom to expose the core.
Next is my card that I created for a card swap that I am in at Practical Scrappers. I created 7 of these cards to exchange. I can't wait to see what cards I receive.
I created this round card for the Challenge Master's Card Challenge. Challenge was to create a round Christmas card using blue!
During my card crop this weekend, I created this adorable owl card. I love owls!!!
~
I just found out that I won a challenge over at Crop Addict... check it out here.
I am grateful for...
