Scrap That Poetry Challenge #1 IF

Scrap That Poetry
Challenge #1 Rudyard Kipling's IFThere were so many lines in this poem that I loved...
If you can keep your head when all about you
are losing theirs and blaming it on you
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting
or, being lied about, don't deal in the lies,
or, being hated, don't give way to hating
and yet don't look to good, nor talk to wise,
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
twisted by knaves, to make a trap for fools
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue
If neither foes nor friends can hurt you
Yours is the Earth and everything that is in it
And- which is more- you'll be a man my son!
These are my favorite lines that spoke to me...
you can read previous posts that relate to the poem!
I couldn't decide on just one word, one verse, so I used the entire poem as a letter to my daughter for advice in life! I wrote her a note on the post card telling her to watch out for "mean girls" as she gets older and be herself!
I used a lighter to burn the edges around the poem... it gave it an aged/distressed look that I loved. I used red walnut ink to paint my daughter's umbrella pink, then I added some glitter dust from Stampin Up.
