Wow, when I started this blog almost 2 years ago, I had hoped to share a little bit about me, my family and what I love to do!  I had never dreamed that I would be at the place that I am at this moment!

Today is July 15th which means our 20th challenge at Scrap That Poetry is posted!
This poem is called "Dream" by Langston Hughes.

Brian and I have had a dream of building our log cabin for at least 8 years, since we got married.
Our dream became a reality a few years ago... but the process has been extremely slow.
If our marriage can last building this house, we are set for life!
When you read the words to the poem, you will see why I chose this picture of us and the cabin... there were times where we almost let our dream die...

I think you get the idea! 
Anyway, we didn't let our dream die.. we persevered... and we are extremely close to moving in!

Elements of Style

I am absolutely in love with Elements of Style!
I used it on the following 3 cards using different techniques.

I used a spotlight technique on this 1st card... where you add color (popped up with dimensionals)!

I used the paper where I cut out the second area for the spotlight to create this card and used the missing area purposely to add my greeting.

On this card, I watercolored using my blender pen and ink pads.

My final creation I CASE'd from the summer mini.

I first stamped the flourish in very vanilla, then heat embossed it.

Then I added our spritz spray in Log cabin.

getting close to my 500th post!!! Wow.. how that flies... also my 200th follower!

I am so excited... I am getting close to my 500th post... this is post 496 I believe!  I also have 181 followers!!!  On my 500th post, if I have 200 visitors...I will choose 2 people to receive some blog candy who leave me a comment here in the comment section that they are a follower and post about it my blog candy on their blog!  You never know what fun goodies you will get... but I know we all love free stuff!!! I love the way it worked out...

I embossed the Crumb Cake cardstock using the new embossing folder, Vintage Wallpaper ( 120175)

Used Marina Mist and Peach Parfait and the Garden Gala Designer Paper!

Scrapping the Music - Tiny Dancer

Yes, that is me... not Clara!

I showed the picture to Clara, Bryce and Brian and they all thought it was Clara!

I married together some new and retired Stampin up products for this layout!

I love the new designer paper

with Elements of Styler stamp set (roses) which I colored with my ink pad and blender pen

I used a brayer to color the Bridal paper (retired) using Basic Black and Cherry Cobbler (new color)

I also used the border stamp from Vintage Vogue to create the border above and below the picture.

I used the large retired twill ribbon.

The Story

"Tiny Dancer"

My mom put me in dance classes when I was 3 years old.  I remember going to Duncan Donuts after dance class. Unfortunately, my dance teacher at the time told my mom that I wasn't good @ dancing and I had no hope.  So my mom pulled me out of dance until I was old enough to decide for myself.  I began dancing at the age of 10 @ a new dance studio.  I surpassed my potential that my 1st teacher expected and went on to win many awards and teach 100's of kids.  Determination is key and good teachers!  Jenn as a tiny dancer!

Favorite Store- New York and Company

I just love this clothing store...honestly, I do one big back to school shopping trip each year and it is always to this store!  Usually the one trip lasts me all year.  (I hate to go clothing shopping.)  In fact, last year during my trip, I passed out of heat exhaustion and was taken to the emergency room.

I created this layout using New York and Company's colors... I hope you enjoy!  Definitely check this store out!

Last night, we went to see Toy Story 3.

Clara fell asleep on the way there... she was so exhausted from the night before... it took a lot to wake her up before the movie started. 

If you have seen Toy Story 3, you know what they are doing... (Buzz- Spanish)

While the kids were at camp today, I went to the house to paint.

When I got there... the septic was done being inspected and they had filled in the hole and graded it!

Yeah!

I painted a second coat on the kitchen today... yes it is orange ( I wanted to try something different)  After the cabinets are in, you will never see an inch of these walls... so why not!  I do love it though!

Our room, Brian just added the doorway and is working on the one to the bathroom.

We finished cloroxing the logs... they look so much better now.  They will get stained soon.

I learned how to cut on the saw this weekend.  I cut the pieces for the doorways.

Brian and his dad finished 1/2 of the other side of the ceiling this weekend.

We are trying to enjoy these 100 degree days in the pool after camp.  Here are the kids today before we started swimming.

Finally, Scrapping the Music's challenge this week

"Home" by Daughtrey

One of my favorite songs... I was so excited months ago when I saw we were doing this song on this date... Our goal was to have the house inspected and to have our occupancy permit by this date.

I don't have a finished house yet, but was able to scrap some of my favorite things that have been happening this month in completing the house.

Siding is going up on the front of the house, septic is in, well is in, cleaned the walls, built the steps, windows went in, doors being put up, vanity being painted, ceiling being put up, insulation is in, gorgeous sunsets while working, Best friends helping us on the house... Becky and Josh, sheet rock going up!

We plan on painting this weekend... if you are able to come help, we could really use the help!
