Artastic

Reverie by Alphonso Muscha

I am so excited to share my first layout that I created for Artastic, since I became a designer!
I love this picture of Clara from Tanya and Jimmy's wedding... it was very fitting for the painting.

Mucha was the creator/originator of ART Nouveau (French for new art style)

Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful healthy young women in flowing vaguely Neoclassical looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed haloes behind the women's heads. In contrast with contemporary poster makers he used paler pastel colors.

I recommend you all look up his Art Nouveau work to get a feel for his style (Google).

ARTastic Diva Demand... for an extra 6 bonus points

1. Use a cut out figurine from a photo = 1 pt
2. Make a halo using flowers around the figurines head = 2pts
3. Use Art Nouveau style/designs on your layout = 3 pts

I hope you come join along with us... you have until the end of March to send your submission to Shazza.  There is a link on the sidebar to her email!
I look forward to seeing your entries!

Favorite memories and more

My favorite memory is from college days... I loved spending time with my husband (friend) at the time.  We would meet up before or after class and have breakfast, lunch, go for drives and at night we would teach dance and choreograph together.  One of my favorite memories is when we went to the park in the Jeep.... we were sitting on the top of the Jeep talking when a police officer came into the park, told Brian to step over to his car.  He told him to stay there... he came over and asked me "Miss are you here under your own free will?" I felt so protected... Brian and I just laughed and laughed... if the cop only knew, we were only friends and only talking... but I was so happy that it happened!  Many of my favorite memories were traveling with Brian to ballroom classes, he drove me to my Miss Central Pennsylvania pageant practices... and drove me to and from a competition and drove over 300 miles in one day for me.

Here is my take on Practical Scrapper's sketch this weekend... come play along here.
I also created this card for the Little Red Wagon challenge- use black and white
Challenge Masters stamping challenge- use masking
Looking forward to posting my Scrap That Poetry layouts on Monday!!! Stop back and check them out!

More of Clara's birthday!
I decided I better scrap all my snow pictures today, because I really don't want to see anymore snow and we are supposed to get another storm this week!
Here is how Clara spent the evening... dressed in shorts and a tank top and we had to talk her into the slippers.  She was so warm- no the house is not that warm, I spent the day in many layers and I am still frozen.  She is just a very warm child.  Yes, she is eating a popscicle with our 2 feet of snow outside the window!

Thanks for stopping by and seeing all that I created today!

Masking and watercoloring your stamped projects

At Practical Scrappers this week we are demonstrating how to use your stamping.  There are many techniques on the blog.  The two that I am showing are masking and watercoloring.
1st- I cut a scrap piece of cardstock to be larger than my photo.  Layed down the cardstock to be my mask and chose the I {heart} hearts stamps and stamped around the cardstock in various colors and various hearts.  When you are finished with the border, lift up the cardstock and you have a photo mat!  Next, I stamped various hearts on red cardstock in white ink and embossed them.  I then cut them out and raised them with dimensionals.  Finally, I stamped the title and journaling block with stazon ink.

I created this fun winter card which is very appropriate for a lot of us on the East Coast right now getting another blizzard.  I hope you all stay warm.
On this card, I stamped my snowman image and my greeting with stazon ink and then I used watercolor crayons and my blender pen to color the image in.  It gives a soft look to your stamp.

Just a reminder that $2 of the I {heart} hearts stamp's proceeds are being given to help Haiti until February 28th.  They are a versitile stamp set that can be used all year round.  I bought the new clear mount set.  They are sold in both clear mount and rubber.  If you are interested in them, go to my website here and order before the 28th to help out a great cause.  To learn more, there is a flyer on my sidebar with all the info!

Some things from the weekend through yesterday...
We were very busy this weekend...
Friday night fun- kids spent the evening at their preschool while Brian and I got to go out (what is that... I know!)
Then on Saturday, we celebrated the twins 4th birthday (sorry, pics didn't turn out well.)
On Sunday, we celebrated Gavin's 10th birthday (where did that time go?)

Bryce loves doing his homework for his "going on group" which gets ready for kindergarten.
Bryce and Clara are reading so many words... books are being read more by them then us!
They truly are amazing and I enjoy them so much!

Stamping and more

Our challenge this week at Practical Scrappers is STAMPING!!!  Whoo hooo... so come show me your stamping on your projects.  This project is for all types of stamping on cards, layout, altered items...
Here are a few of my items that I have already posted to give your some inspiration... I will post my new items on Thursday!

In my "love you much" card, I used 2 generation stamping.  I first stamped the first "red" heart, then before inking the stamp again, I did my second heart which looks "pink."  Then I inked my stamp again and did the 3rd heart and did a second generation "pink" heart for the 4th one and finally inked for the 5th heart.

I want to see your stamping... link up your projects here by Friday!

Better Way

Scrapping the Music Challenge this week is Better Way.  The song has such strong lyrics... I hope everyone finds inspiration in this song and joins in again this week!  Last week we had 25 entries!

Here is mine...
I am offering the RAK this week... so come play along with us!!!
I chose the title "You have a right to your dreams"
I totally believe that we are have a right to our dreams whether they are attainable or not!  I chose these since we are still "dealing" with the bank and trying to finish our "dream" house.  We have worked incredibly hard for it and truly deserve to have it!  We will appreciate this house more than anyone appreciates a house, but who wouldn't after living in a camper for 4 months with 2 young children.
I have so many other dreams that will be attainable as well.
So go scrap some of your dreams and share with us!

Dinner and a Movie

Last night was Friday Night Fun at the kid's preschool, which means Brian and I were able to go out.  We went to Red Robin for dinner.  I had my favorite chicken burger...
Chicken bruchetta burger (minus the salsa).  It has pesto and all kinds of yummy flavors!

Then we went to see Valentine's Day which has so many famous people in it!  It was hilarious and sad all in one!  I love it and will definitely be buying it when it comes out on video!  Highly recommended by us!

Valentine's Day and more...

Wow, it has been a busy few days...
Here are some pics from Valentine's Day (inspired by Julie T-W)- when I saw the pics of your daughter spinning... I just knew Clara would twirl as well!

The kids went out to dinner with Pappy, Jean and She She.  Brian and I went out for our own dinner!  We all had a blast dressing up, even if the restaurant we went to wasn't that fancy!

Today, the kids had their Valentine's Day party since they missed it due to snow last week.  When they got home, we spent time looking through all their Valentine's as well as they scrapped them right away tonight!  They wanted to keep their scrapbooks by their beds tonight since they were so proud of their work!
Can't wait to share all the exciting news that I have been hearing lately!! Hopefully by the end of the week!
Wishing my nephew, Gavin, who turns 10 tomorrow a very Happy Birthday as well as Drew and Gabe who turn 4!  Wow, where is the time going?
